Forest Ziplining

Whether it’s through the evergreen Monteverde Forest with the Arenal Volcano’s view or through the vibrant jungle canopy, ziplining is an excellent activity for any age.  You can find some of the most extreme ziplines in the northern part of the country.

Costa Rica has the longest zipline cable, which overlooks the ocean, is located in Diamante Eco Adventure Park. These views can only be observed in this way, enabling you to see animals and birds up close and add some extra adrenaline to your vacation.

Nearly 25% of the country consists of national parks and wildlife.  Costa Rica is home to 27 national parks, making up 5% percent of the world’s biodiversity.

The Los Quetzales National Park allows birdwatchers to get a view of the various species of birds.  You’ll most likely encounter a monkey or a sloth dangling on the branches.

Corcovado National Park is another prominent place where you may encounter a lot of wildlife.

surfing lessons

Towns such as Samara, Avellanas, and Tamarindo are great places for year-round surfing on these Pacific and Caribbean coasts.  The warm water and steady wind combo make Costa Rica a surfing paradise.

Many of the beaches offer boards and lessons for beginners.  Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, you’re bound to catch a gnarly wave in Costa Rica.

Volcano Hike

The massive Arenal Volcano is one of the most well-known spots in Costa Rica.  Kayaking, boating, and paddleboarding are popular activities near the volcano.

Hot springs and waterfalls are also very prominent, with zip lines and horseback riding available below the volcano summit.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park’s main attraction is another million-year-old volcano that offers views of the Nicoya Peninsula and Lago de Nicaragua.

Jungle Tranquility

The natural hot springs with a green background provide geothermal waters heated by the volcano. The volcanic springs are said to have therapeutic healing properties in addition to relaxation.

Tabacon hotel is popular with luxury travelers because of its lush gardens surrounding the hot pools. Nayara Spring and the Springs Resort Costa Rica are two other spots I would recommend for your stay.

rio celeste waterfalls

La Fortuna waterfall by Arenal is an approximated 20-minute hike presenting a massive waterfall with a jungle backdrop. Another favorite is located in Tenorio Volcano National Park in the Northern Plains, offering bright blue waters.

Lesser-known waterfalls include Bajos del Tori in the Alajuela province and Catarata del Toro, which plummets into an extinct volcanic crater and delivers breathtaking views.

Rio Rafting

Named as a Biosphere Reserve, Rio Pacuare offers a white-water Caribbean experience through the safari-like jungle.  According to National Geographic, it is one of the top spots for white-water rafting.  While rafting in the Rio Savegre, you can encounter jaguars, tapirs, and birds that pass by the riverside.

Jungle Drives

Throughout Costa Rica, 4x4s offer the best driving experience. The off-beaten paths can present unique obstacles such as passing through rivers. Driving on the beach, however, is not permitted. Another exciting way to get around is via horseback, offering a different way to see the views.

Deep Diving

The majority of shore islands on the Pacific coast are the hub spots for scuba and deep diving, offering spectacular views of various species of sharks, dolphins, and much more.  A renowned spot for divers is The Gulf of Papagayo in the Guanacaste province.

Yoga Retreats

Aside from the adventurous and bold activities offered in Costa Rica, yoga retreats are available for those looking to relax and rejuvenate in the peaceful surrounding.

Nosara is a spot located in the Nicoya Peninsula, offering a stunning beachfront area for a serene yoga session. Favorites amongst our clients are Bodhi Tree and Blue Spirit.

Whether it’s relaxing on the sultry beach or releasing that rush of adrenaline with these exciting activities, Costa Rica is a go-to spot to have fun and savor these moments.
